Gregory Announces $5.7 Million Loan for Tyrone
1/29/2020
HARRISBURG – Tyrone Borough in Blair County has been awarded a low-interest loan to upgrade its water system, according to Rep. Jim Gregory (R-Blair).

The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) loan of $5,710,200 will be used to rehabilitate a water storage tank, install new pumps at the pump station, replace about 10,900 feet of water lines, replace seven stream crossings, and upgrade valves and manholes in the distribution system.

“This project is important to ensure water in Tyrone is stored and distributed with modern equipment,” Gregory said. “I appreciate that Tyrone sought out this loan to continue providing clean drinking water to its residents.”

The PENNVEST board approved the loan today at 1.112% interest rate for the first five years and an interest rate of 1.863% for the remaining 15 years of the loan term.

PENNVEST funds sewer, storm water and drinking water projects throughout the Commonwealth through low-interest loans and grants.
